Network & System Penetration Testing

My work as a network and system pentester means that I am manually simulating a real attacker to see how far I can get into an environment and what damage is possible.

I start by mapping the network and identifying systems and services, often using protocols like dns, arp and snmp and tools like Nmap, Netexec, but the key is interpreting the results rather than just collecting them. From there, you probe deeper by interacting with services, testing the configuration and authentication, and looking for weaknesses in how systems are setup or connected.

Instead of relying on automated scans like Nessus or Openvas, I actively try to assess and exploit what I find. That could mean gaining access to a machine, escalating privileges, or moving laterally through the network. Tools like Metasploit can help, but much of the work is manual and situational.

The job is about thinking creatively (zero AI), understanding businuss logic and the people behind it. And trying to chain small issues into real compromise, and then clearly explaining the impact and how to fix it.
